2010 WTT: Newport Beach Breakers III

July 17th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

This time the Newport Beach Breakers take on the St. Louis Aces,
featuring 55 career singles titles owner, Lindsay Davenport.

As you will see from this report, World Team Tennis is, sometimes, more about “the event”, than the score. What a great way for a tennis fan to spend the afternoon/evening. Again, there is so much going on, that I couldn’t possible fit it all into this report!

To see Lindsay Davenport in her final Sony Ericsson WTA Tour appearance,
get your tickets now at:
Mercury Insurance Open (La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA)

The “Ladies Day” was presented by Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is dedicated to breast cancer education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for the cure.
If you want to be notified ahead of time of the FREE pre-event clinic next year, subscribe to GroundsPass.net, and I’ll keep you posted!

The Newport Beach Breakers beat the St. Louis Aces 16-14,
thanks to Lester Cook pulling out a 5-0 win in the final event!

There are only three home matches left for the season. Next week’s Breakers matches feature, among other players, Carly Gullickson, Maria Sharapova, and John McEnroe. Get your tickets now!

2010 WTT: Newport Beach Breakers II

July 13th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

It’s time for more World Team Tennis!
This time the Newport Beach Breakers take on the Sacramento Capitals, featuring Wimbledon Ladies’ Doubles Champion, Vania King.

With five “events”, featuring mixed doubles, women’s doubles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, and men’s singles, I just could not fit all of it into one show! Unfortunately, I had to choose to leave out the men’s singles, . . . this time . . .

The Sacramento Capitals won the match 25-18.

Next up is coverage of this Thursday’s match, July 15th, against the St. Louis Aces, featuring their guest teammate, Lindsay Davenport! Get your tickets now!

2010 WTT: Newport Beach Breakers

July 10th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

It’s time for World Team Tennis!
I visited my local team, the Newport Beach Breakers, to find out what it’s all about. It was a home game, held at The Tennis Club Newport Beach, as they took on the Kansas City Explorers.

The were five “events”, as they call them, featuring mixed doubles, women’s doubles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, and men’s singles. That’s a lot of action to pack into just a couple of hours!

There are so many details and other exciting things to share, so, it looks like I’ll have to go back! Be sure to join me, as they have matches coming up in the next couple of weeks only, that also feature Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova, and even John McEnroe!
