It’s finals day at the Farmers Classic, presented by Mercedes-Benz!
The number 62 is looming . . .
The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:
Bob Bryan / Mike Bryan
d. Eric Butorac / Jean-Julien Rojer 6-7(6), 6-2 [10-7]
Sam Querrey d. Andy Murray 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-3
In the post match press conference, Sam said, “You’re never out of it, you can’t give up! This is the first time that I got to try to defend a title, i’m pretty proud of myself!”
This year was the first time in the 84-year history of the tournament, that both the singles and doubles champions were successful in defending their titles.
Iwasnt going to give it to him i was gonna make him beat me

I bumped into the Bryan’s father, Wayne Bryan, before the match. I asked him if he was nervous. He quipped, “Always! I’m nervous wether they’re playin’, or not!”
Andy Murray d. Feliciano Lopez 6-0, 1-6, 6-4
After the match, Murray was asked about the doubles contest of the Bryan brothers. He responded that, “It’s amazing what they’ve been able to accomplish. They’re really, really good for tennis. They’re nice guys as well.”

The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:
Rohan Bopanna / Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi
d. Arnaud Clement / Jonathan Erlich 4-6, 7-6(4) [14]Remember, there is no third set in ATP doubles. Instead they play a 10 point tiebreak. The whole third set, and the tiebreak were so close that it could have gone either way.
Feliciano Lopez d. James Blake 3-6, 7-6(8), 6-4In the press conference, Feliciano was asked what he thought makes Rafael Nadal better than everyone else. His response was, “The mind. I think Rafa has the best mind in sports, . . . than anybody!”
Andy Murray d. Alejandro Falla 7-6(3), 6-1
After the match, Murray admitted that he, ” . . . was just playing some good points, and some bad ones. Just, very up and down.”

The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:
Feliciano Lopez d. Dudi Sela 7-6(2), 6-4 Unfortunately for Dudi, his own cheering section, the self-described “Hebrew Hammers”, wasn’t quite enough today.
Alejandro Falla d. Ernests Gulbis 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(10) During the match Ernests Gulbis received a code violation warning for destroying one of his rackets on court. Soon after he repeated the offense, he got a point penalty from chair umpire Fergus Murphy. It was Falla’s turn to serve next, and he got to begin his service game with the score of 15-0.
Ross Hutchins / Jordan Kerr
d. Feliciano Lopez / Janko Tipsarevic 7-6(2), 7-6(5)It was an exciting, back-and-forth, tiebreak in the second set that took out this first time pairing.
Andy Murray d. Tim Smyczek 6-1, 4-6, 6-2This was Andy’s first match since Wimbledon. He said that, “I just got a little stiff out there because I haven’t played in four weeks, and was sittng on the beach the past two weeks.” “Just because we’re athletes, doesn’t mean that we dont hurt.”
Bob Bryan / Mike Bryan
d. Ernests Gulbis / Dimitri Tursunov 7-5, 6-3The Bryans would really like to make this event their 62nd win. They consider the LA Tennis Center to be their favorite court, and their home court.

It’s the third day of the Farmers Classic, presented by Mercedes-Benz!
My reports will post much later now, since I will also be covering some of the evening session activity.
Get your tickets, come on down, and join in the fun!
The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:
Rainer Schuettler d. Robby Ginepri 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 Another exciting three-setter on Straus Stadium! At one point, Ginepri was so frustrated with his poor shot selection, that he threw his racket and it went into the first few rows of the crowd.
He was quickly given a racket abuse violation warning by the chair umpire.
Eric Butorac / Jean-Julien Rojer
d. Carsten Ball / Chris Guccione 6-3, 6-7(4), [10-6] Fortunately/unfortunately, Carsten Ball won a challenger last week in Lexington, Kentucky, so he was unable to play the singles qualifying rounds for this tournament.
Bob Bryan / Mike Bryan
d. Mardy Fish / Mark Knowles 6-3, 6-4
Fish/Knowles is a good team-up, however, it had to be hard on Marty after winning two singles tournaments in a row (Newport, Atlanta), then going up against the Bryan Brothers.
In the press conference Mike Bryan talked about how great it is to be back playing in Los Angeles, on Stadium Court, “We played on that court since we were six years old, and pretty much every year ever since. It’s great to see your name up there (on the courtside banners) with Agassi and the other greats.”
Sam Querrey d. Kevin Anderson 7-6(10), 4-6, 6-0
After Sam won his three set match (around 11:08PM) he went directly to the Grandstand Court and was practicing serves!
