2010 WTT: Newport Beach Breakers IV

September 11th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

Even though the World Team Tennis regular season ended in July, I still have a couple of “time shifted” reports that got postponed because of my daily reports from the U.S. Open Series.

In this report, the Newport Beach Breakers hosted the Kansas City Explorers,
and added superstar Maria Sharapova to their team!

Sign up for info on the next season at the official Newport Beach Breakers website:
newportbeachbreakers.com

Or, look for YOUR local team
on the official World Team Tennis website here: wtt.com

Be sure to share GroundsPass.net with your other Tennis Friends, and I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!

2010 USTA Spring League VI

September 4th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

For this final, rescheduled, USTA Spring League match, I was reunited with my regular doubles partner, Jaime. We had planned to play all of our matches together this season, but work and vacation schedules did not allow that to happen this time.

I don’t want to characterize this match as a “grudge match”, however, it was the same team, and same players, that we beat in last year’s fall league season finale. This year they evened the score. Maybe next year we can actually get our team captains to help us plan on a season ending rematch!

My final results for this season are:

Local District/Area 4.0 Singles
1-2
Local District/Area 4.0 Doubles
0-3

As I have mentioned before, the first year at a new level is always tough, but, I still had a great time with the challenges!

I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!

2010 USTA Spring League V

August 28th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

Yes, that’s correct, it’s Spring League in summer. Occasionally my weekly videos get bumped in favor of the current pro tour events. Therefore, these reports are delayed, or “time shifted” for convenience.

A special welcome to all of the new Tennis Friends that have found, and joined, GroundsPass.net from meeting me at the Cincy Tournaments!

Since my regular partner, Jaime, was on vacation for this match, I was once again scheduled to play singles for my team.

As you could see in the video, we had some great, long points. Unfortunately for me, my opponent got the better end of the majority of them. He was a very solid, consistent player, and a fine gentleman, as well.

After our match, he congratulated me on a good, tough game and mentioned that the unbalanced score did not reflect how close the points were. It’s tough to lose without even winning one game, but, I sure came close so many times!

I have to keep reminding myself that this is my first season playing 4.0 singles, and that I did not do too well through my first season back when I was bumped up to playing 3.5 singles.

My results for this season, so far, are:

Local District/Area 4.0 Singles
1-2
Local District/Area 4.0 Doubles
0-2

I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!
