Hey Tennis Friends!
It’s the second day for the Mercury Insurance Open at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California!
CORRECTION:
When interviewing Agniezska, I mentioned that she made the quarterfinals at Stanford “last year”, . . . what I meant was last week. She actually made the semifinals at Stanford last year.
Kimiko Date-Krumm was originally only scheduled for today’s singles match. Because of a player withdrawal from a scheduled doubles match, somehow Kimiko (who wasn’t even in the doubles draw), partnered up with Zhang Shuai (who lost her singles match today), for a doubles team that was put into the line up. Their result is below.
Here are the final scores from the matches that I featured:
Kimiko Date-Krumm d. Gisela Dulko 7-5, 6-0
Agnieszka Radwanska d. Elena Baltacha 6-0, 7-6(4)
Sara Errani / Roberta Vinci
d. Liezel Huber / Lisa Raymond 6-3, 6-1
Vera Zvonareva d. Jill Craybas 6-4, 7-5
Kimiko Date-Krumm / Zhang Shuai
d. Chia-Jung Chaung / Olga Govortsova 7-6(4), 6-4
