2011 USTA Spring League

Hey Tennis Friends!

It’s the start of a new USTA League season!

I’m only playing on one team for the Spring session, and that team is in my local area. Our league format is to field five teams for each match: two singles, and three doubles. We have some pretty talented singles players on our team, so, I don’t know if I will be asked to play singles. I will, however, make myself available for the opportunity!

In the video, Gus and I talked about how the second set was twice as long as the first one.
Having the advantage, and hindsight, of being able to review much of the match that I recorded on video, the second set was actually just about as long as the first set: around 37 minutes.
I guess when you are behind in the score, it just seems like it is taking twice as long . . .

It’s tough to lose the first match of the season. To our credit, we were the last ones playing of the five matches that were being contested that day. It was great to have the rest of our team cheering us on in the second half of the final set. Even though Gus and I were not victorious, thanks to the rest of our teammates, our team was!

My results, so far, for this season are:

Local District/Area 4.0 Adult Men Doubles
0-1

Be sure to share GroundsPass.net with your other Tennis Friends, and I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!

Nice report. Good returns at net. Last set 4-6, closer than the first two sets. Must have been keeping your pace and accuracy up, despite the loss. –A Fan
