Hey Tennis Friends!
It time for USTA Spring League and unlike the Mixed Doubles League, this time I am only on one team. I had agreed to be on the team as long as I was able to play all of my matches with my regular men’s doubles partner, Jaime. However, things do not always go as planned.
In the first match that we were scheduled to play, I had to bow out, as I was asked to emcee the 2010 Easter Bowl for that weekend. For our second scheduled match, Jaime already had previous plans on his calendar, so I had to go it alone . . .
Our home matches are played on the courts of a high school campus. We were positioned behind a large athletic stadium, where they were holding a very busy track meet! There was a lot of noise from the stadium’s PA system, the crowd, and all of the participants preparing for their events.
Fortunately, one of the places that I regularly play at has academy children running around the track that circles the courts. I’m used to a lot of noise when I play!
