2008 East West Bank Classic II

Hey Tennis Friends!

Another fantastic day of exciting tennis here in Carson! Here are some pictures of Thursday’s action:

Sybille Bammer Forehand

Look at the forward momentum in the lefty forehand by the other mom on tour (other than Lindsey Davenport), Sybille Bammer. It looks as if she is going to fall down, but I assure you, her footwork kept her in the game, ready for the next return. She won a tough three setter over Anna Chakvetadze 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, and then had her little daughter out on the court afterward.

Samantha Stosur Bag Check

Here’s Samantha Stosur, who made it to the doubles semis with her partner Lisa Raymond. She is being recorded for the “Bag Check” segment for the Tennis Channel. Not only did she feature her watch, but also had a football with the name/logo of one of the home teams in her country of Australia. Watch for it soon, but you heard it here first!

Goodyear Blimp at Carson Tennis Stadium

One of the cool things about this venue, is that it is right next door to the Goodyear blimp docking station. All day long the blimp is going up and down on the horizon. Here, in early evening, it buzzes by as Alla Kudryavtseva gets the best of a lopsided second set over Dinara Safina. Dinara came back in the third set and took the match 7-6, 0-6, 7-6.

I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!
