Hey Tennis Friends!
There is some great tennis going on now that you need to be a part of!
This week is the East West Bank Classic at The Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA. I don’t have internet access at the event, so I actually cannot be “Almost LIVE”, but have to come to you “Tape Delayed”. This is a great event and you get to be real close to the players, especially on the outer courts. Here are a few shots of today’s action on the outer courts:
This is Ai Sugyama preparing for her backhand in her defeat of Patty Schnyder 6-4, 7-5. A terrific match that I saw from the front row on Court 4. That’s right, sitting right in the corner, on a step ten inches up from the court. This is how good the seats are here with only a Grounds Pass!
And, talk about preparation, here’s Nadia Petrova getting ready to slam another backhand in her three set victory against Akgul Amanmuradova 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Again, this picture is not taken from my professional digital SLR camera with a giant zoom lens. I have a new, very small, pocket digital camera just for these blogs that takes great pictures from the front row on Court 3.
Out on Court 5 Samantha Stosur (on the left) is back with partner Lisa Raymond as they discuss strategies for their win over Sabine Lisicki and Nicole Vaidasova. What a killer team Raymond/Stosur are! Doubles at its finest. I was so close that I actually caught the game ball twice during the match! Really!! You cannot get any closer to the action than that, unless you are getting pounded into the court by these two dominating athletes. Raymond/Stosur won 6-3, 6-1.
If those names aren’t enough for you, how about other matches that I saw today featuring names such as Safina, Mirza, Bammer, Craybas, and Jankovic! The weather is great out there so what are you doing sitting in front of your computer? Use a sick day, take a mental heath day, cancel those appointments and get out there and see some great professional tennis closer than you can anywhere else for the price!
Here’s the link for the event, and feel free to call me on my secret cel number with any questions/tips. It may take me a little bit to get back with you ’cause I’ll be watching so much terrific tennis!:

BTW, coming up will be the Western & Southern Masters from Cincy, and the Countrywide Classic from Los Angeles.
I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!
