Hey Tennis Friends!
This was the scene this morning after our pre-show meeting from the announcer’s booth at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
The main focus of the production meeting was the daily Stadium Court program. My part was to make sure that my introductions for Stadium 2 were proofread and approved. I had done all of my research and fact checking, and emailed my work the night before. In the morning, after our meeting, I was handed a stack of 5×7 cards that not only had the intros printed on them, but that day’s promotional spots on them as well.
Fantastic weather is forecast for the week, and there is certainly a buzz of tennis balls in the air. I will be on Stadium 2 until the final weekend. If you come out to the event (and, why shouldn’t you?), I will be sitting somewhere around the umpire’s chair, wearing my brand new Fila apparel.
Yes, after about the first hour in the sun, I have to put my wacky hat on. I get so many comments about it’s uniqueness that I’m working on having my own limited product line!
The first match of the day this early in the tournament is not heavily attended. Plenty of great seats for everyone! That’s me on my first day reading the bio for American Scoville Jenkins, who is warming up in the background, with Lars Graff in the chair umpire’s seat.
Look for me on TV when coverage begins later in the week. I believe it will be carried on Fox Sports, so check your local listings, and, yes, I will have my big hat on!
