Hey Tennis Friends!
It’s Fed Cup Time!
That’s right! Country versus country via women’s tennis. This time I took a short hop down to La Jolla, California. The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club is a wonderful place to watch pro tennis. It’s right on the beach, and you can actually see the nearby surf from the upper levels of the temporary stadium. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my camera, so I just have a couple of quick pics from my cel phone.
This is my friend Liz and I after we got our free face painting and pom poms. Of course, I’ve learned from my Davis Cup experiences, so I have the American flag draped around my neck. Liz and I met a couple of years ago when the United States Davis Cup team beat Romania at this same venue.
It was a tough weekend for the American Women, because of the German competition, and especially the rain delays. Sunday’s final matches had to be played on Monday!
This is my camera-phone self portrait with the winning American team of (left to right) Laura Granville, Lisa Raymond, Ashley Harkleroad, Lindsay Davenport, and team captain, Zina Garrison!
The Americans beat the Germans 4-1.
I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!
