Hey Tennis Friends!
Day two of the main draw at the Southern California Open! The weather is perfect, and it ‘s the last opportunity for you to see this level of pro tennis until the spring, so, come on out and join me!
Women’s Singles
Coco Vandeweghe d. Allie Kiick 6-1, 6-2
Kiick has actually been on GroundsPass.net twice before: When she won the girls’ 18s doubles at the 2012 Easter Bowl, as well as when she was in the singles semifinal at the 2012 USTA Girls’ 18s Nationals.
During Coco’s interview she mentioned her coach by name. Her coach, of course, is former ATP player Jan-Michael Gambill.
Laura Robson d. Ayumi Morita 4-6, 7-5, 6-2
Laura Robson’s partner for her 2012 Olympic silver medal mixed doubles performance, was none other than 2013 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray.
If you watch the video again, you will notice how bright Robson’s shoes are. After the on-camera interview, she actually confessed that they are glow-in-the-dark shoes, and that she has to zip them up in her tennis bag when in her hotel room, otherwise they would keep her up at night.
Daniela Hantuchova d. Tamira Pasek 6-0, 6-0
This match only lasted 48 minutes. Thank goodness there was an exciting doubles match following this one that kept the crowd entertained.

Excellent video highlights of the on court action, and I enjoyed the interviews as well as the details about Robson’s Olympic silver medal with Andy Murray. Thanks for getting this tennis slacker a little more up to date.
Thanks! The folks who only watch my videos on YouTube miss out on these little tidbits!
Hi! Do you have highlights of the double match with Hingis/Hantuchova, or press conference after the match?
No. I did not cover that match. It was an evening match and I stay up late enough editing my show after all of the daytime activity 🙂
Ok, thanks.
