Hey Tennis Friends!
It’s semifinal day at the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open, and television will be covering just about everything related to the women’s matches. However, the players are arriving daily for the men’s tournament, and the qualifying has begun.
The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:
Kim Clijsters d. Ana Ivanovic 2-1 (retired)
Here is part of Ana Ivanovic’s released statement:
“(I was) obviously disappointed the way it finished, you know, because I felt like I had really good run, and it was a good start of the match, I think, for both of us. On that one forehand when I went to step around it, I just felt pain, all of a sudden. So much pain in my foot, and I couldn’t step on it anymore.
I tried bit of tape, but I could not put any weight on it, and there was no point in me continuing. I had straightaway (to make a) doctor appointment, to make sure it’s nothing serious, and to do it as soon as possible so I give myself time to recover.”
Michael Russell d. Jesse Witten 7-6(2), 6-3
Arnaud Clement d. Ramon Delgado 6-4, 6-3
Taylor Dent d. Go Soeda 6-1, 6-4
