2013 BNP Paribas Open IV

Hey Tennis Friends!
Apparently, saying “Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!” works:

Potential Third Round Preview:

David Nalbandian is currently ranked #93 and has 11 ATP Tour singles titles.
He has reached a career high ranking of #3, and has been a pro since 2000. He has had his share of injuries and, at 31 years old, is in the twilight of his tennis career.

Richard Gasquet is currently ranked #10, and has 9 ATP Tour singles titles.
He has reached a career high ranking of #7, and has been a pro since 2002. He has also had his share of injuries, however, at 26, he just may be at the peak of his career.

Nalbandian has bested Gasquet all seven times that they have met. Their last meeting was in 2009, so, taking their ages and current rankings into consideration, I hope that they both make it to what should be a great potential third round match-up!

The result for the match that I featured is:

Svetlana Kuznetsova d. Jelena Jankovic 0-6, 6-2, 7-5
This match of the two-time Indian Wells finalist (Kuznetsova) and the 2010 champion (Jankovic) began to look like a clean sweep in the first set. Kuznetsova made adjustments in the second set, and Jankovic couldn’t keep up. The third set was as close as the final score reflected, and very entertaining for the crowd.

Their career head-to-head is now tied at 6-6.
