2012 Texas Tennis Open VI

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

Hey Tennis Friends!

It’s “Quarterfinal Day” here at the Texas Tennis Open!

The final scores for the matches I featured are:

Casey Dellacqua d. Aleksandra Wozniak 6-4, 6-4
Casey had mentioned that she has been coming back from her injuries. She had shoulder surgery in 2008, and foot surgery in 2010. Up until this tournament, she has only made it as far as three Round of 16 matches this year.

Jelena Jankovic d. Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-1
Sorana was playing very well at times, however, she did get at least one bad line call (I checked it on my video), and felt that she had much more than that. She actually stopped the match a couple of times to complain to the chair umpire, to no avail. The match was lost, mostly by Sorana’s errors, rather than won by the few winners by Jelena.

Bojana Jovnovski d. Peng Shuai 6-4, 1-0 (retired)
Peng’s injury was to her right shoulder. A disappointing retirement from the match, as she was having such a good week, and said that she was feeling fine in yesterday’s interview.
