2012 Texas Tennis Open V

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Hey Tennis Friends!

They say (yes, I have actually heard them say it), if you don’t like the weather in Texas . . . wait about an hour . . .

After withdrawing from the tournament with a shoulder injury, Angelique Kerber could easily have went on to new York. I thought that it showed a lot of class to hang around Dallas for a couple of days and meet with her fans.

The final scores for the matches I featured are:

Peng Shuai d. Pauline Parmentier 6-4, 6-2
I thought that it was interesting how Peng had explained that her dip in performance was from trying to switch to a longer racket. After that did not work for a while, she went back to her normal racket, and has performed better since.

Jelena Jankovic d. Arantxa Rus 7-6(5), 6-2
The last couple of matched for Jelena have benn interesting. They seem very close, but, she it counts, she can really “turn it on” and dominate. on the other hand, Arantxa gave her quite a match! I see big things in the near future for upcoming tennis star.

Sorana Cirstea d. Alize Cornet 6-1, 7-5
Alize struggled with her first serves, and felt that the lines were being called unfairly against her. There is not electronic line calling system at this tournament, so, you just have to go with what the linespeople and chair umpires say, and not let it get into your head.

Check out the line up on Stadium Court!
