Hey Tennis Friends!
It’s day two of my coverage of the Texas Tennis Open and, as of this morning, three of the top seeds have already gone home (Peng, Wickmayer, Gajdosova). As I always remind you, if you want to see your favorite players, come out to the early rounds, because you never know what will happen!
That was not the first time that Elena Baltacha had taken out a Top 20 player. In fact, since 2010, she took out Top 10 players a few times!
Last year she took out Li Na, twice, (Indian Wells, Eastbourne) and Franchesca Schiavone (Istanbul).
This year, the #1 player from Great Britain has beaten two players who were ranked higher then she: Lucie Hdrecka (41) and Roberta Vinci (37).
The final scores for the matches I featured are:
Elena Baltacha d. Julia Georges 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(2)
Alberta Brianti / Sorana Cirstea
d. Kateryna Bondarenko / Alona Bondarenko 6-3, 3-6, [11-9]
