“Finals Day” at the Texas Tennis Open!
About a half an hour before the singles final began, Liga Dekmeijere and Irina Falconi were practicing on Stadium Court. When they left, Irina had four tennis balls in her hand and asked me if it was okay if she hit them up into the crowd. I whipped out my marker and said, “Only if you sign them first!”
That was such a nice, spur of the moment gesture for her to think of the fans like that. Good job Irina!
The final scores for the matches I featured are:
Roberta Vinci d. Jelena Jankovic 7-5, 6-3
Marina Erakovic / Heather Watson
d. Liga Dekmeijere / Irina Falconi 6-3, 6-0
