2010 Farmers Classic III

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

It’s the third day of the Farmers Classic, presented by Mercedes-Benz!
My reports will post much later now, since I will also be covering some of the evening session activity.
Get your tickets, come on down, and join in the fun!

The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:

Rainer Schuettler d. Robby Ginepri 6-3, 3-6, 6-4
Another exciting three-setter on Straus Stadium! At one point, Ginepri was so frustrated with his poor shot selection, that he threw his racket and it went into the first few rows of the crowd.
He was quickly given a racket abuse violation warning by the chair umpire.

Eric Butorac / Jean-Julien Rojer
d. Carsten Ball / Chris Guccione 6-3, 6-7(4), [10-6]
Fortunately/unfortunately, Carsten Ball won a challenger last week in Lexington, Kentucky, so he was unable to play the singles qualifying rounds for this tournament.

Bob Bryan / Mike Bryan
d. Mardy Fish / Mark Knowles 6-3, 6-4

Fish/Knowles is a good team-up, however, it had to be hard on Marty after winning two singles tournaments in a row (Newport, Atlanta), then going up against the Bryan Brothers.
In the press conference Mike Bryan talked about how great it is to be back playing in Los Angeles, on Stadium Court, “We played on that court since we were six years old, and pretty much every year ever since. It’s great to see your name up there (on the courtside banners) with Agassi and the other greats.”

Sam Querrey d. Kevin Anderson 7-6(10), 4-6, 6-0
After Sam won his three set match (around 11:08PM) he went directly to the Grandstand Court and was practicing serves!

and I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!
