2010 Western & Southern Women’s & Masters VI

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

It’s semifinal day at the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open, and television will be covering just about everything related to the women’s matches. However, the players are arriving daily for the men’s tournament, and the qualifying has begun.

The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:

Kim Clijsters d. Ana Ivanovic 2-1 (retired)

Here is part of Ana Ivanovic’s released statement:
“(I was) obviously disappointed the way it finished, you know, because I felt like I had really good run, and it was a good start of the match, I think, for both of us. On that one forehand when I went to step around it, I just felt pain, all of a sudden. So much pain in my foot, and I couldn’t step on it anymore.
I tried bit of tape, but I could not put any weight on it, and there was no point in me continuing. I had straightaway (to make a) doctor appointment, to make sure it’s nothing serious, and to do it as soon as possible so I give myself time to recover.”

Michael Russell d. Jesse Witten 7-6(2), 6-3

Arnaud Clement d. Ramon Delgado 6-4, 6-3

Taylor Dent d. Go Soeda 6-1, 6-4

Yes, in the video I mistakenly said that the men were arriving for next “year’s” tournament. Obviously, I meant next “week’s” tournament.

Victoria Azarenka / Maria Kirilenko
d. Sania Mirza / Monica Niculescu 6-2, 7-5

Maria Sharapova d. Marion Bartoli 6-1, 6-4

2010 Western & Southern Women’s & Masters IV

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Hey Tennis Friends!

Television coverage started today, and, as of this posting, six of the seeded players have been eliminated. This is why it is so important to make it to the early rounds of a tournament, because once the players lose, . . . they move on to the next event, and you’ll miss seeing them!

The final scores for the matches I mentioned are:

Akgul Amanmuradova d. Jelena Jankovic 7-6(3), 6-4

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova d. Elena Dementieva 6-1, 6-3 (Yesterday)

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova d. Shahar Peer 5-7, 6-4, 6-4
