Hey Tennis Friends!
It’s quarterfinal day and time to get back to Center Court.
That’s Ernests Gulbis powering up for one of his big serves to Novak Djokovic, in the far court.
With Novak in the foreground, blurry, but covering the action from the camera, is my friend Skippy. Remember him? He’s the cameraman who inadvertently stepped in front of my MacBook camera during my Tommy Haas intro at the Pacific Life Open. He’s from Australia and travels with the television crew for the tennis events. And, is he barefoot?!?
Since he was stationed at Stadium 2 at Indian Wells, we got to chat a few times. Earlier in this tournament, I was able to say “Hi!” to him between matches on the Grandstand Stadium.
Here’s Djokovic cranking up a flying forehand for Gulbis. Notice how Gulbis is already moving to his right in anticipation. Djokovic won the match 6-3, 6-4.
I’ll see you next time, with more tennis, . . . outside the lines!
